Our History
Since 1928, our Bank has taken great pride in serving the Hyde Park
community. Founded in September 1928 as the IC Bank and Trust Company,
Hyde Park Bank has grown through the decades along with our community.
We were trailblazers over the years in bringing new innovations,
such as a drive-thru facility, branch banking and ATM networks.
Recently we played a key role in local economic development by bringing
Borders Bookstore to 53rd Street.
Our Staff
Hyde Park Bank is independent and locally owned. Because of this,
we can be flexible, creative and make decisions quickly. Our employees
routinely raise the bar by going above and beyond their job requirements, and their remarkable dedication to customer service is
a key contributor to our success.
Our Building
Our flagship building, located at the corner of 53rd Street and
Lake Park Avenue in Hyde Park, has served as an anchor for our community
and a gateway to the 53rd Street business district for more than
three generations.
In 2003, we initiated a major restoration of our Bank interior.
The unique features of our Main Bank Lobby – marble staircases,
polished brass railings, vaulted Gothic ceilings and beautiful bronze
12-foot chandeliers – were restored to showcase their original
grandeur. Yet while preserving these historical architectural elements,
we merged them with the most advanced banking systems and facilities.
Most importantly, we opened up our banking floor so customers and
employees can interact more easily.
This project reflects the depth of our commitment to the Hyde Park
community.
Our Community
Over the years, we’ve developed a close bond with our neighbors.
From sponsoring cultural events to helping keep our streets and
parks beautiful, we take great pride in giving back to our community
through major sponsorships, charitable contributions and employee
volunteerism. We are the major sponsor of both the Big Brothers
Big Sisters mentorship program at Bret Harte Elementary School,
and of the Midway Classic Basketball Tournament, held each November
at the University of Chicago. And we’re proud contributors
to other local events and organizations, such as the July 4th on
53rd Parade and Picnic, the 57th Street Children’s Book Fair,
the Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce, Court Theatre, La Rabida Children’s
Hospital and local schools, churches and museums. We care about
our community the same way we care about our customers.
